The City of Taft acknowledges the ongoing issues with our current online payment services provided through The Payment Group/Nuvei. We understand the frustration these issues have caused and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience experienced by our residents.
The core of the problem lies in connectivity and integration challenges between the City’s billing software and the existing online platform. As a result, while payments are properly recorded in the City’s internal system, the online portal may continue to reflect outdated account balances. Additionally, the current system has never offered the ability to display water usage information, limiting the transparency available to customers.
In response to these long-standing concerns, the City began transitioning to a new online payment platform in December 2024. We are in the final stages of implementing Tyler Utility Access and Payment Services, which is designed to enhance the reliability and transparency of our utility billing and payment processes.
As an integrated extension of the City’s existing billing software, Tyler Utility Access will:
• Provide improved connectivity between billing and online services;
• Display detailed billed usage history and current balances;
• Allow customers with smart meters to view real-time usage data.
This new platform is expected to significantly reduce the issues experienced under the current system and offer residents a more modern and informative interface. While we are confident that the new system will provide a much-improved user experience, we recognize that no system is without its challenges and will continue to monitor and respond to any issues that may arise.
